Best Bali Trip - Part 2

This is my second write up on my Bali trip in 2014. You can read part one here (Bali Part One) . What is unique about the picture above is those black hairy roof of Bali Hindu temple. The thatched roof uses ijuk - the fibre of chromatic black palm tree. You can see some of the factory making those materials and they really look like long hairs.

Tanah Lot is another majestic rock formation that lays as a foundation of a popular pilgrimage temple. It is most popular for its serenity and cultural significance as it is associated with the Balinese mythology as one of the seven temples that form a ring in the southwest of Bali. Try to go there during low tide so that you can experience walking across the water to the temple for the full experience. There were lots of tourist while we were there so taking a photograph without another head at the background got a little tricky. Having Made our private driver around was great because he got to help us with the camera.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan (Bali’s temple by the lake) is the famous temple by the lake in Bali, where instead of like the rest perching on the cliff rock, this one is serenely resting at the edge of Lake Bratan. Its slightly cooler up here at the lake and you get that much peaceful feeling here.

We stopped by this restaurant at a road side just after the town of Pura Ulun Danu Bratan just for a taste of bebek bakar.
.

Since we were passing Udud on our way to visit Uluwatu, we decided to grab a pair of stone tigers for my husband. It cost less than RM15. I guess we could not go home without one souvenir statue or sort.

Made took us thru the new highway that runs across the sea. Crossing this bridge was very interesting and an awesome journey.

If you have a bit more of a budget to spare, splurge at Nusa Dua beach, where it is dotted with higher end hotels. You will be rewarded with private pristine beaches for you to slowly soak in the sun and the sea. However for us, it was too far away from the happening at Kuta.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is located on the cliff side. If you go even higher grounds nearby, you will be rewarded with breathtaking view of either side and sunsets over Uluwatu temple itself. Pura Luhur Uluwatu is a Balinese sea temple in Bali. Built in the 11th century, it is one of nine directional temples meant to protect Bali from evil spirits. It is located in Pecatu village, Kuta South District of Badung Regency of Bali.

Jimbaran is a fishing village and tourist resort in Bali, Indonesia. Located south of Ngurah Rai International Airport, the beach has seafood restaurants and luxury hotels, including the five-star. It was a lovely place to have your seafood dinner and watch the sun set.

After all the sight seeing, finally we heading to some shopping at Krisna store which sold all kinds of souvenirs and a favourite place for tourist. We bought bags of peanuts and a box of Oreo brownie to take home with us. It was too tempting to resist.

On our third night, Sidoi hotel gave us the biggest room which can fit at least 4 more king size bed in it. It was located in the middle so considered the most quiet room in their place. Perfect ten for me!

For our dinner we had our second meal at Warung Totemo. Finally I got to try their local dish called Ayam Betutu. It was not to my liking tho. I barely finish my meal because the portion was huge. According to Made, the blue taxi is the best taxi to take if you want to avoid being cheated.

Kuta is definitely the spot to hang out if you are looking for night happenings. There is a stretch of road where you will find all kinds of bars and pubs.

The next morning and on our last day we stop by at Kopi Pot for our last drink. It is a lovely place to hang out for coffee and some light more snacks. Very cosy with the trees surrounding the restaurant.

The Bali Bombing Memorial (Ground Zero Monument) - Kuta

Do not eat at Bali International Airport. Everything there is in USD currency and extremely expensive. We did not know this and end up eating the most expensive meal so far in Bali. Duck rice.
