Kuching Laksa is one of my favourite noodle soups. I have been to almost all the stalls that sell Kuching Laksa in Kota Kinabalu. There are good ones and there are bad ones. A lot of locals will tell you to go to the famous laksa shop Yee Fung Restaurant in KK located at Jalan Gaya, however, it is not the most authentic Kuching Laksa.
Yee Fung may have the right condiments besides its noodles but the taste is not right. I am not saying it is not delicious if you like the creamy type. I am talking about authentic Kuching Laksa which not only must have the following toppings ; taugeh, taufo pok, prawns, shredded chicken and sliced omelets but it must have more of that spice-y taste to the soup.
Making Kuching Laksa is not an easy task. There is a lot of work that goes into making a bowl. The ingredients are also not cheap especially prawns. I am not surprised that a bowl of Kuching Laksa in KK is now selling between RM7 to RM8.

Kedai Kopi Taman Cantik - Taman Cantek Shoplots (Lido)
Tian Wang Restaurant – Corner Lido Shophouses.
Kedai Kopi Kinabalu - Between Public Bank and Fong Ip Cafe at Gaya Street
Currently my favourite Laksa which is almost as close the original is at Foo Chow Restaurant.
