Wisma Merdeka Shopping Mall

Wisma Merdeka is one of Kota Kinabalu’s oldest shopping mall. This mall is not rather big but it has a few notable shops that are worth mentioning like bits & bites. It’s a small shop that selling local kueh (cakes) and savory pastries.

The cakes and pastries come in finger food size so you need a number just to fill up your stomach. If finger food is too little for you, there are more eateries located on the 2nd floor. Take note Wisma M is not famous for food. I think it is more famous for the vast number of money changer shop found here.

There is a large departmental store called Tongs which sells quite a large selection of clothing. Familiar Super Stores which sells stationary, kitchen utensils, gifts and toys can be found at the 2nd floor and a small grocery store at the food court area.

The one and only pewter shop is also found here.

I have to make a remark here that two eatery I always frequent if I am visiting this mall is either the shop serving porridge or the shop serving prawn mee. Ah LIm Penang Prawn mee is a little spicy and not as rich as I would like it to be but it is acceptable. For a lighter meal sometimes I will go for Pak Ka Lok HongKong Porridge located on the 1st Floor around the corner from the toilet at the new Wisma M block. For your info, Penang Prawn Mee is located at the 2nd Floor on the old block of Wisma M.
