Macau Casino Hopping

I visited Macau in 2015 but have failed to do a write up. It is such a waste that I did not documented it. It would have made visiting Macau the second round much easier.

My dear hubby has a thingy for gambling. As long as I am by his side then the cost of gambling does not become a disadvantage.

We took a ferry from Hong Kong to Macau. I guess it must have been easy because I did not remember anything from that journey.

I booked two nights at Ole London Hotel in Macau. I think we took a cab from the ferry terminal to the hotel. The hotel has a very nice quiet room. A shower that is separated by shower screen. It was so much nicer and more spacious than Dragon Hostel in Hong Kong. I was really reluctant to leave when the end came.

This hotel is located quite far from the casino strip. However it has a quiet surrounding and getting the bus is very convenient as there is a bus stop just a short distance away. There are also a lot of nearby restaurants which makes finding food very easy.

The old shops and alleys are just a few rows behind the hotel. Its looks quaint at night and we had a nice stroll there.

We were lucky that the next day there was a shooting for a movie. It was interesting to watch the action. I sneaked out my camera and zoomed in on the actors at the scene. We do not recognized the actors but there they are in the photo with the director telling them to do the scenes.

There was one Thai restaurant which we went more than once because the food was deliciously and the price was reasonable. It is located not too far away from ole London hotel.

Getting around Macau is pretty easy.

First the bus stop. Praca Ponte Horta bus stop is located nearby our ole London Hotel so it was an easy walk for us. You just need to look at google map to find out the bus stop that you want to stop at and check back at Macau bus route for the bus that you need to hop on.

You pay on entry at the front door and just drop your change in the coin box near the driver. The stops are shown on the display panel in front of the bus. Take note that all words in Chinese lettering.

The bus route covers almost every part of Macau so you will have no trouble getting to your destination.

Macau have many casinos. Hopping from one casino to the other is easy because there are shuttle bus that travels between them. Travelling on these buses are free and most are equip with free WIFI on board.

We wanted to cover as many casino as possible. I did a researched early on and found out that galaxy hotel bus route stops at Senado square which was within walking distance from our hotel. I confirmed this with the receptionist at our hotel. Upon writing this article this stop no longer exist so best to check before you go. Some shuttle bus insist to see your free ride coupon because it is only open for guest of that designated hotel.

There was already a long queue of people waiting to board the Galaxy bus when we got there. It took awhile before it was our turn. An attendant was there to ensure smooth boarding.

Website you can check for the latest shuttle bus schedule here.

The best plan for casino hopping is having a main central stop. For me the main central stop isMacau ferry terminal. All shuttle bus has a Macau ferry stop so you can hop on the next bus to your destination easily.

It is also great to visit the bigger casinos because they have very interesting and impressive designs or feature to see. As an example Wynn Casino has a music fountain, Grand Lisboa a massive LED dome shape screen, MGM an animated dragon and many more.

If you are not a gambler, you can still enjoy the free show that is being held every night at the casinos.

Since the casinos are normally only active at night we had to do something during the day time. Therefore we head down to visit Senado Square and St Paul ruins. We did not walked around the old area at Taipa Village Macau this time because we were short of time.

We also manage to visit Macau fisherman wharf but it is a little run down. Looks great a night tho. Day time will probably be too hot. This area is opposite Sands Casino.
